Percussion treatment is a safe and effective procedure used for a variety of soft tissue dysfunctions, and for retaining muscle balance by releasing the tension or restriction of dysfunctional fascia—the tough connective tissue that covers all of our muscles and every part of our body from head to toe.
Tension in the fascia can be caused by physical and emotional trauma, repetitive use, overuse, underuse, or bad posture. Psychological and emotional traumas are often stored in the fascia, and these restrictions inhibit the normal flow of blood, lymph, and cerebral spinal fluid.
The Percussor, a mechanical device that delivers waves of percussion impulses deep into the myofascial tissues of the body, promotes increased blood and lymphatic flow, decreases muscle spasm, relieves muscle pain, and successfully treats post exertion muscle fatigue.
Percussion’s pressure and tension on the muscular system engages neuromyofascial release, influences the autonomic nervous system, affecting not only the cardio respiratory, endocrine, skeletal, and nervous systems, but ultimately all systems of the body. Neuromechanically, these effects are significant to help decrease the overall consequences of physical and emotional stress.
The percussor has a variable frequency setting and usually is used at the same frequency of middle “C” on the piano, which is the same frequency of our fascia.
